Founding my own club, TV series club is an experience impressed me a lot during the first term in GCA.
When I knew that every student can found the club that they want on planning class, I felt very excited because I love watching TV series especially American TV series. I am crazy about Prison Break, Gossip Girl and so on. I want to find a club called TV series club. I think this club is meaningful because we can improve our English when we watch English TV series. I talked to Ms .Barbell about my idea, she thought it was a good idea, and encouraged me to found the club. I was looking forward to founding the club successfully.
Actually, things did not continue smoothly. At first, a friend of mine asked me to found the club together, but she gave up the next day. She told me to give up, too. She said that it is stupid for a grade 10student to found a club, most of the club leaders are students in grade11 or grade12.I was upset, but I still want to give up. I talked to Ms.Bartell and ask for her advice; she cheered me up and encouraged me to found the club on my own. Then I find MS. Hadley and told her I still want to want to found the club.Ms Hadley likes TV series, too.She support the club by providing art room for the club to have meeting.
I didn’t give up during the process of found a club, even though I faced the difficulty. I think never giving up is a good characteristic that a leader need to have. If a leader gives up easily, the followers will give up easily as their leader. Sometimes, if a leader can not insist his or her idea, the leader will lose the control of the project or activity. I am a person who does not give up easily, so I think I am able to make the people follow my direction. I also asked Ms.Bartell and Ms.Hadley for advice when I faced the trouble. They gave me some good suggestions indeed. I think the communicating skill is also an important quality for a leader. Leaders might face many problems, they can not solve the entire problem perfectly on their own, so they need to be patient to ask for other people’s advice, and choose the good advice to try.
After found the club, I advertised about my club to attract members. I stuck application forms on the window and billboard in GCA building. I also asked Ms.Bartell and Ms. Hadley to hand out club’s application forms on their class to attract much more people. Not bad, more than thirty people signed the application form, and Grade in 10-C was interested in my club and she was happy to help me to organize the club.
I use different ways to advertise my club. I think a leader should have the ability to advertise the activity which they organized. I think I can advertise the activity and make people join me well,
TV series club usually have meeting on Tuesday after class in art room. I decide the time because on other weekdays, each day have a class finish their class early at 4:15, most of the club’s member can not wait for a long time to take part in club meeting. And I or Grace always write the time and place on the billboard on Monday to remind our members to take part in our meeing.I usually send their message to remind them, too. I always send an e-mail to Ms Hadley about the meeting’s plan.
I think these shows my organizing skill. A good leader should have a good plan about the activity that he or she oraganize, and decide the time fit for everyone. I think I can make a plan in details before I organize the activity and be able to let most of people satisfies about my plan.
On Halloween party this year, we asked to have something to do on Halloween party to the president of students’ council .Students’ council asked TV series club to be in charge of the ghost house. We were in charge of the movie house in the ghost house (GCA building), I and Grace, some members of the club decorated the house as beautiful as we can and borrowed speakers and computer from Mr. Gallinelli to play the movie. A lot of students came to the movie house at that night. I did the job successfully.
I have learned many things from this club activity.I am learning to be a good leader now.
I learned that good leaders should be active to look for some events or jobs to do, not only wait the teacher or other people to give them directions in my mind. I am very active to organize activity or do something .I hope that I can have chance to in charge of some other events in school.

Dec .12nd, I and my classmates and the student’s form Grade 12 went to a Swiss restaurant whose name is Bebbis Restaurant.Some photos above are the menu for this restaurant.

When the students in Grade 12 asked us where we want to eat, I also chosen the Swiss restaurant because someone told me the chocolate fondue here is very delicious before.
Actually, the environment of the restaurant impressed me more than the food. When I entered in the restaurant, I felt it is a Swiss restaurant because of the Restaurant layout. It improved that the layout of the restaurant is successful in some ways. The paintings hanging in the wall is also some Swiss traditional pictures or decorations. The restaurant filled with Swiss culture.
Then I took a seat to sit down next to my classmates. The first dish is soup. The soup is added some butter, it seemed a little bit thick, and it tastes a little sweet. The next dish is chocolate fondue. The waiters and waitresses gave us a fox to get something like tofu. We use the thing like tofu to dip the chocolate then eat it. It tastes a little strange, I think. Maybe because I can’t get used to the Swiss food. The third dish is pizza I remember. Pizza in this restaurant is not very different from other restaurants. I felt so-so. The last food that we taste is ice-cream. There were 3 types of ice-cream in the plate.
The service is very good in this restaurant. When I want to go to the restroom, one waitress showed the way to me, this thing impressed me a lot.
Most of the customers were lovers or friend here, and I didn’t see any foreigners this time. I will recommend people to go to the restaurant.

We and students in 10- Fwith Ms.Hadley’s class went to a professional exhibition outside of NFLS/GCA nearly a monthly. The name of the exhibition that we visited is “Wu Weishan Cultural Figures Sculpture Galley”. The sculpture is being shown in this exhibition. The artwork is made by one artist whose name is Wu weishan.I think that these artwork are both traditional and contemporary, because the artist mixed the western skill of sculpture making and eastern skill of sculpture making perfectly.
A lot of Wu weishan‘s artwork are being shown in the museum. Some of them help Wu weishan get some important prizes such as sleeping boy and some other sculptures.
The artwork impressed me the most is not the sleeping boy which impressed a lot of my classmates. The art work impressed me a lot is “Yang Zhen Ning” which is made in 2001 by Wu Weishan when he realized many teenagers do not know who Yang Zhengning, the great scientist in china is.
This artwork is a sculpture of a Scientist and Nobel Prize laureate in our country.From the sculpture, we can know that Yang ZhenNing is an old man now, but he is still very intelligent.His eyes are very big. He wears a western suit, He looks very serious but he is smiling. He looks like an easygoing person, when I saw the sculpture, I felt very peaceful. The sculpture doesn’t have too much hair, so we can know he is not younger any more. The artist made the artwork very carefully because I can see every position of the sculpture even the wrinkle on his skin. The sculpture looks almost the same as Yang Zhenning.When we see the sculpture, the person who explained each sculpture to us told us ,when Yang Zhenning saw this sculpture felt excited,too.The sculpture is made of gesso, that is the reason why it is white, so the skin of YangZhenning ‘s face looks very silk. The sculpture shows a vivid picture of the great scientist Yang Zhenning in china.
When I saw the sculpture at the first time, I felt I was meeting a great person face to face. Of course, Yang Zhen Ning is a great persona great scientist. By seeing the sculpture, I think Yang is a friendly person because the sculpture of him looks liked wear a big smile. From his mouth, I guess that he may not like talking and being serious. The artist gave me a peaceful and friendly Scientist in my mind.
I think that the artwork called Yang Zhenning is a good sculpture. When I saw the artwork at first time, I realized the artwork is Yang Zhenning.It can prove that the artist make the artwork very carefully and paid many attention in details when he made the sculpture. The skill of making sculpture is also excellent. I can’t find any bad thing about the sculpture. The sculpture will remind us a great scientist forever. It is such a magnificent artwork.Wu weishan achieved his goal to make this sculpture let many people do not forget this great scientist.
